Dallas Morning News: Big D Reads Makes a Timely and Relevant Pick

From the March 25 Dallas Morning News editorial page:

Big D Reads makes a timely and relevant pick

Chances are you haven’t read Anne Frank’s The Diary of a Young Girl since you were an adolescent student. But its themes of generosity versus betrayal and hate versus hope have uncanny relevance in 2016. That’s why we salute the folks behind Big D Reads for naming the book as this year’s Community Read. The Dallas Public Library and Friends of the Dallas Public Library are behind the annual read-along, with considerable help this year from the Dallas Holocaust Museum Center for Education and Tolerance and the Dallas school district. Dallas residents are encouraged to read the book — or one of the companion titles available at bigdreads.org — during the month of April. The shared reading project includes special events, discussions, movie screenings and children’s programming, all of which you can learn more about on the group’s website.
