Soul Rep Theatre Company and the Dallas Public Library presents excerpts of Travisville

Soul Rep Theatre is proud to present excerpts from the full production of Travisville written by Dallas native, William Jackson Harper. Travisville is based on the book, The Accommodation. There will be four productions at various library branch locations, held on September 17, 23, 24, and 30.

THE STORY: In 1960s Texas, one city has so far avoided the tumult of the Civil Rights movement. Through the efforts of an alliance of black church leaders, a wary peace has been maintained with the city’s white mayor and citizens. But when the mayor partners with a private developer to gentrify the black neighborhood and uproot its residents, and a movement organizer from Atlanta comes to town, the Minister’s Alliance will need to choose between the non-confrontational status quo and standing up for the interests of their community—and weathering the risks resistance incurs.

This production is held in collaboration with Big D Reads. Learn more and register via the library’s website here. This program is made possible thanks to the generous support of the Friends of the Dallas Public Library.
